The style 'Wado Ryu' was founded in 1939 by Hironori Ohtsuka. Hironori
Ohtsuka was born on 1st June 1892 in Shimodate city, Ibaraji, Japan. Born to
Dr. Tokujiro Othsuka who operated a clinic in the area, Hironori would listen to
his mothers Uncle, Chojiro Ebashi, who would tell him stories of Samurai
adventures. Hironori began learning martial arts at the age of five. He began
formally training a form of Ju Jitsu at 13.

Hironori Ohtsuka
